From open to exported form
Seven steps, no account, no cloud project storage.
Open ErgoTax
Open the app in your browser. No account or login required. Your session begins locally.
Add documents or enter data manually
Add PDFs of supported tax documents (W-2, 1099s, etc.) or enter values directly. During normal preparation, files are parsed locally and are not sent to ErgoTax servers.
Review and correct values
Check extracted and entered values. Supported fields can be edited directly when parsing is incomplete or a value needs correction.
Answer guided questions
ErgoTax walks you through a guided interview for your return. Answers are stored locally.
Save your project
Your work is saved in local browser storage as you go. Export a project file at any time as a backup.
Generate forms
ErgoTax generates tax form PDFs locally for review, printing, or separate filing. During normal generation, tax return data is not sent to ErgoTax servers.
Export and review
Download your generated forms. Review them carefully before filing. ErgoTax does not file for you in v1.
Before clearing browser data
Your tax project is stored in local browser storage. Clearing your browser's site data, cookies, or storage — or using incognito/private mode — may delete your local project. Always export a project file or your generated forms first.
Do not use ErgoTax on shared, public, or workplace computers where other people may access your browser's local storage.
